Matt Pasternak is a creative realist. Most recently, Matt was employed as principal Industrial Designer at Pau Hana Surf Supply. A multi-disciplinary artist in early academia, Matt treasures how design serves as confluence of aesthetic fundamentals, technological limitation and fantastical desire.
Tinkering has always been an unrestrained impulse for Matt. In elementary school, Matt built hand-made toys out of everyday school supplies for himself and others. Ordinary pink erasers, staplers and markers became race car components and chassis paint for precision yard ruler “track” testing.
As a professional Industrial Designer, Matt strives to incorporate that same playful deconstruction of concepts as a vehicle to produce functional, effectively designed products. After all, the design process is one that demands an active imagination and an unrelenting desire to experiment and think outside the box.
On this site, you will find a curated selection of projects from Matt’s numerous and varied professional and personal endeavors that aim to embody that spirit.
